Five elements describe relationships, not personality boxes.

Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water form cycles of generation and control. A chart is read through their relationships, distribution and seasonal context—not by choosing a single “best” element.

What the visible count can show

The eight surface characters provide a transparent first count. It can show concentration and absence at the visible layer, but it is not a complete strength analysis: hidden stems, season and school-specific weighting add further depth.

Why balance is not sameness

Balance does not require equal quantities. The question is how the pattern functions: what supports the Day Master, what it produces, what it regulates, and what places pressure on it.

How it remains personal

The free Birth Signature shows the auditable 8-character count. Interpretive copy cites that count and Day Master directly, avoiding a paragraph that could fit any chart.
